Antique information - Copper

Copper, it is thought, was the first metal known to man and, consequently, became used for most manufactured items throughout the ages.

When iron was discovered, copper lost its lustre, so to speak. It was no longer the only metal known to man and was thus found to be lacking in some applications. However, copper is with us every day as an alloy which enhances other metals, making them stronger, more ductile and more aesthetically pleasing. The many methods of refining make it an extremely versatile material.
